AGM 2008

Dear Forum Members,

The theme for this year's Annual General Meeting on 16th and 17th October 2008 in Cairns, Australia will be Best Practices in Infrastructure Tariff Regulation.

The Executive Committee has now finalised the agenda for our workshop and as you can see from the agenda we have an excellent list of speakers from a number of member countries.

Like last year's AGM workshop in Jakarta, the meeting will be organised in a seminar format so that after a block session of papers, delegates will be given the opportunity to prepare questions and then engage in a discussion with a Panel of Experts. This format worked very well last year and we have decided to continue it.

We are very pleased to have Commissioner Rauf A. Tan from the Philippines Energy Commission returning this year as a full member of the Forum. Those who attended last year's meeting will recall the great contributions Commissioner Tan made to the meeting given his extensive experience with applying performance based regulation to electricity transmission and distribution businesses.

We are also pleased to welcome the following new delegates to the meeting:

  • Pian Sukro, Chairman, Malaysia Energy Regulatory Commission

  • Mr. Irzal Z. Djamal, Chairman, Jakarta Water Supply Regulatory Authority

  • Mr. Carmine Piantedosi, Utility Regulatory Authority, Vanuatu

Mr. Ahmad Lanti (retired from the Jakarta Water Supply Authority) will also be attending as a guest of PwC as the Forum's advisor on water supply regulation.

We would encourage you to attend this year's meeting and to stay on for the following week (20th to 24th October) to attend the Economic Regulation of Infrastructure training course if you did not attend last year's course.

Please see below the agenda for the EAPIRF AGM and Core Training Program. You will also find the Registration Form for both the events. We request you to fill in the registration form and email it to us at the earliest, so that necessary arrangements can me made well in advance.

If you have any further queries or clarifications, please do not hesitate to contact us at secretariat@eapirf.org.

We look forward to seeing you at Cairns!
